Like many vSphere admins, you may be experiencing issues logging into Administrator@vsphere.local on your Vcenter Server Appliance. This can be due to the password expiring or poor record keeping, but it really doesn’t matter. Lucky for you, there is a way to change that password if you know the root password to your Vcenter Appliance.
I like to use putty for the job with the default settings, just enter your VCA IP or Host name and make sure the settings match below:
Log in and launch the shell:
Run the following command:
Select 3 to Reset Account Password
Record your new password (that’s a secure password!)
