Make Exchange Distribution Group Accessible From Outside Network

Make Exchange Distribution Group Accessible From Outside Network

Is your Exchange Distribution Group not accessible from outside your organization but you would like it to be? A simple change to the distribution group can fix that. Note: If you make this change, it’s possible from someone outside your organization to use it for nefarious purposes, that is why it’s turned off by default.

To turn off the restriction, open up the distribution group in the Exchange Management Console, and select the Mail Flow Settings Tab

Uncheck Require that all senders are authenticated checkbox.

Hit OK and Apply.

If you want to use the Exchange Management Console you can!

Set-DistributionGroup groupname  -RequireSenderAuthenticationEnabled $False

You can also do this in via the Exchange Management Console for all users via the following command:

Get-DistributionGroup | where {$_.RequireSenderAuthenticationEnabled -eq $True} | Set-DistributionGroup -RequireSenderAuthenticationEnabled $False
